Itekeng Disabled and OVC centre is a centre situated in Meqheleng 
which started operating on the 25th February 1998, providing a place 
of hope to disabled, orphaned and vulnerable children. It is a 
registered non-profit organisation dedicated to the care of children, 
who have been shunned and abandoned by the community.

    Volunteers have received a 2 week-long training course in first aid and snake handling. The Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Mme Rejoice Mabudafhasi formally launch the project.


The Meqheleng Adopt-a-River project was initiated on 15 November 2011 as a flagship programme of Setsoto Women Empowerment. There are currently 38 volunteers, 7 of whom are men.
